Police Authorities caught up in Icelandic bank failures
over on the Mobbu Blog Rod has collated information on which force’s police authorities have potentially lost funds as a result of investing in Icelandic banks. An interesting if slightly painful side effect of the current global banking system problems.
Big Beach Boutique 4 - Fatboy Slim on Brighton Beach
Much fun and revelry was had on Saturday. A great atmosphere dampened a little by overpriced beer…
However, Beardyman was magnificent as ever as a cross between an act and a compare.
Layo & Bushwacka were great and got us all dancing – love story, was of course, pulled out of the record bag
Then Norman Cook did his thing, he played a load’o’ old classics and some of his remix stuff my favourite tune of the evening was the White Stripes 7 nation army remix …
I really like the fact that he totally enjoys himself up there, of course his home crowd (us) were going to enjoy it but I feel that he genuinely gets a buzz out of the crowds reaction and sort of can’t believe it. anyway a great night.
caged elephants
wondering back from Big Beach Boutique 4, we stumbled upon these magnificent topiary elephants in the park by the Pavilion … brilliant
Turns out they are touring UK and Ireland to raise awareness and money for Asian Elephants in the wild see more at http://www.thesurvivaltour.org/
… oh and they are caged at night to stop your average drunken person doing them some harm!
BES admin posts over on the Mobbu Blog
As we spend a lot of time developing / building / deploying / testing and un-deploying applications on our BlackBerrys via our BlackBerry Enterprise server (BES) we have started to post a few articles on things we have learned that may be useful to other fledgling BES admins.
Of course there is loads of good stuff on the internet and many a google search will give you an answer to your question quickly but these articles we hope are a little more verbose than the BlackBerry KB texts and focused on particular issues we see on our own BES servers and while visiting clients too.
The Mobbu Blog tends to focus on Enterprise Mobility for Government as this is our job!
More Mapstraction Mapping Goodness
I posted a while ago about using Openstreetmap and mapstraction on the Pembertons website to dynamically show available properties by their location in Brighton and Hove.
My good friend Steve Gerrard (no not the Liverpool and England midfielder – this one is balder and grumpier), has taken on board the learnings from the Pembertons build and deployed it for his wife’s project (that bit is in Turkish).
The bit that is of interest is the Schools page the idea is that on the Access-Study blog they aim to present mainly Turkish students with useful information about learning English in the UK and where you can do it. The focus at the moment is mainly on Brighton and Hove as they can really add value with useful information about the city and what students can expect here.
